Who's Who of Veronica Mars — O

O, Mackie

Nickname for Mac given by Veronica, who just loves to make references to presidents and First Ladies whose heydays were decades before she was born. For some reason, she likens Mac's budding beau Bronson Pope to a "vegan JFK," so naturally, she must liken Mac to Jackie O. Yet, linguistic trouble abounds! Because it's a good thing Mackie O's middle name isn't Ought, or else: poof! she's on the Starbucks menu in 3.10 "Show Me the Monkey."

-Polter-Cow

O'Brien, Pat "Big Pat"

Former co-anchor of Access Hollywood and current host of Entertainment Tonight spin-off The Insider. Recently, he became a little too Hollywood, engaging in your basic rum, coke, and rehab. Not content with such minor vices on his record, however, he gained infamy for leaving explicitly vulgar voicemails for a co-worker. These messages contained references to hookers, cocaine, threesomes, and other things we certainly can't print here. Heavens to Betsy! Somehow, this real person was able to break the fourth wall and leave such messages for the fictional Trina Echolls, as she attests in 2.09 "My Mother, the Fiend."

O'Dell, Dean Cyrus

O'Dell, Gram

O'Dell, Jason

O'Dell, Mindy

O'Donnell, Sgt. Chris

His convoy was struck by an IED near Najaf, Iraq. This gets him on the front page of the Chicago Statesman, the paper for the really, really smart people in the Illinois city. If there is any other reason as to why the headlines are in English and the articles are in Latin, we don't get it. As to what Sgt. O'Donnell is getting from Ms. Breck, due to a less than sharp screen resolution, we don't get it. As to why Chris O'Donnell should give up his acting career...we get it. Chris's legs, still attached despite the improvised explosive device, are on display in 2.12 "Rashard & Wallace Go To White Castle."

-Inigo

O'Donnell, Deputy Christopher

Police investigator that looked into the crash that killed Kendall Shiflett. Any relation to this man who was wounded in Iraq? Could be. Either that, or someone in the props department really really loved The Bachelor. The erstwhile Robin gets another shout-out in 2.19 "Nevermind the Buttocks."

-funky-donut

O'Donnell, Rosie

Comedienne. Friend of Madonna. Talk-show hostess. Out lesbian. Hater of members of the NRA — she'd love Ed Argent. Replacement for Star Jones Reynolds on The View. Feuder with the Donald. Not Dick, in 3.10 "Show Me the Monkey."

-funky-donut

O'Neal, Ryan

Actor. Perhaps better known for his tempestuous personality than for his acting career, Ryan O'Neal starred in a number of notable films in the 1970s (Love Story, Paper Moon), and some more obscure ones in the '80s and '90s (Zero Effect, indeed). His very public feud with his actress daughter Tatum and his on-again, off-again relationship with Farrah Fawcett have kept him a feature in tabloid fodder over the years. Silly people. Don't they know love means never having to say you're sorry? Except not at all in 3.08 "Lord of the Pi's."

-leila6

O'Neal, Tatum

In 1975, she was the youngest actress ever to win an Oscar (for Paper Moon). She went on to star in other cheesy '70s favorites such as The Bad News Bears and Little Darlings. In later years, her acting career took a backseat to personal drama, including a tempestuous 6-year marriage to tennis star John McEnroe, which included (according to her book, A Paper Life) drug, physical, and verbal abuse. In the same book, she revealed that Melanie Griffith took her to a drug-fueled orgy. If that won't mess a kid up, I don't know what will. Thank God Veronica really isn't like her in 3.08 "Lord of the Pi's.".

-tallow

O'Reilly, Bill

FOX News show host and man behind the war on the supposed War on Christmas. Along with several non-fiction books, O'Reilly wrote Those Who Trespass, a novel that Keith is "reading." We couldn't think of a better book to cut holes in for smuggling evidence tapes. Except maybe The O'Reilly Factor? Either way, Keith finds O'Reilly weird in 2.12 "Rashard & Wallace Go To White Castle."

-funky-donut

O'Sava, Edward

A fratboy at Pi Sigma whose name and face are on the wall. If he's Irish — as his name suggests — in all probability, he embraces the old Irish tradition called "getting piss drunk." That's probably why he's absent in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-alliterator

O-Town

Oh, come on! You really don't expect us to have to think about this, do you? A band Felix's sister likes. Okay, we thought about it. Dude, you know things are bad when an actress would rather go around yelling "Go, Go, Power Rangers!" than film another O-Town music video. A sorry reference in 1.01 "Pilot."

-Inigo, wyk

All bios: 1.03 1.01
O. Nicholson
See Nicholson, O.
O.J. Simpson
See Simpson, O.J.
Oates, Daryl

No such person. Vincent Van Lowe thinks he is one half of the real life group Hall & Oates. It was John Oates and Daryl Hall. Vincent is an idiot in 1.17 "Kanes and Abel's."

-Inigo

Odlum,

A veritable blank slate of a teacher. Is it this Odlum? Perhaps born with that name or just liked it a lot? The mystery of Kevin Carney's World Cultures educator is not solved by Wallace in 1.06 "Return of the Kane."

-alliterator

Off Camera Boy

Though some people believe children should be seen and not heard, this boy is obviously of the reverse philosophy. When informing Veronica that the Sheriff wanted to inspect her locker, he never showed his face to the camera. Of course, he could be disfigured in some way or have really bad acne. The mystery of the faceless boy persists in 1.06 "Return of the Kane."

-alliterator

Played by Drancy Jackson.
ofnight

Screen name that Ryan uses for his emails to Veronica. Was this the username he used for his emails to Marcos? Dunno. All we do know is that this is yet another Neptune student who uses AOL. AOL? Really? Shouldn't these Kane-Software-is-headquartered-here kids have a better ISP than AOL in 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!"?

-wyk

Ogletree, Mr.

A fratboy at Pi Sigma. We don't know his first name, but his last name suggests old money. Or that his ancestors loved to gawk at tall women. Too bad he doesn't ogle us in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-topanga

Older Boy from Van

Less-than-silent witness. Granted, he couldn't have known that Weevil wouldn't harm Thumper when he ambushed him in front of Father Patrick's church, but ratting the poor guy out is still a little — what do you mean, he did harm him? He didn't lay a finger on him; he couldn't have known that Liam Fitzpatrick would kill Thumper for double-crossing him! What is he, clairvoyant? No, there's nothing wrong with our perspective! It's all this little boy's fault in 2.21 "Happy Go Lucky."

-grimsqueaker

Played by Jamen Nanthakumar.
Oliver Twist
See Twist, Oliver
Oliveres, Carlos

Father of Marcos and recipient of harassment in the form of mini school buses left around his home, recordings of his son's voice in his answering machine, and his son's cologne lingering in the air. Whether he deserves this treatment is the question on Veronica's lips after she discovers what they did to their son in 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!"

-alliterator

Played by David Barrera.
Oliveres, Marcos

Oliveres, Maria

Grieving parent. The mother of Marcos Oliveres is understandably upset about her son's recent tragic death and the resulting terror of someone harassing her and husband Carlos. She also has a remarkable taste in clocks, as can be seen in 2.08 "Ahoy, Mateys!"

-grimsqueaker

Played by Norma Maldonado.
Olivia Rooks
See Rooks, Olivia
Olofson, Inga

Olsen Twin

Mary Kate and Ashley, a media phenomena and every little girl's dream. Logan's too apparently, as he wants to be the meat cream filling of an Olsen twin sandwich. Honey, that ride might be a little uncomfortable, what with Mary Kate's anorexia and all, but if you want it, just slip on that Argyle sweater and go for it. Logan's sanity is in serious question in 2.06 "Rat Saw God."

-alliterator

Olympia

Hearst student and Apollo's girlfriend. It had to be, really. How could a boy named after a god of music not be drawn to the sanctuary and haven of Olympia? Mythology layers lay in 3.18 "I Know What You'll Do Next Summer."

-Inigo

Played by Noel True.
Omar

A prisoner in the sociology experiment. Despite staying strong to the end, he unwittingly gave away the information to the guards after being tricked by his girlfriend, Julia, and Wallace, making his fellow prisoners, especially Logan, none too happy with him in 3.02 "My Big Fat Greek Rush Week."

-fulfilled

Played by Jonathan Halyalkar.
Omar Sharif
See Sharif, Omar
Onassis, Jackie

The late wife of an assinated president and the late wife of a shipping magnate. Late = dead. Everybody's dead. If being a former First Lady wasn't enough, Jackie Kennedy, widow of JFK, surprisingly came to be more popularly known by her moniker following her second marriage to Aristotle Onassis. As Jackie O, she was that rare breed - a genuine American aristrocrat. Jackie Cook falls far short in class, poise, and bone structure, but that doesn't stop Veronica from sarcastically making the comparison in 2.02 "Driver Ed."

-Inigo

One-Hour Photo Clerk

One-hour-photo clerk and possible racist. Shocked that a blonde and fresh-faced co-ed would be canoodling with the likes of an Arab, he quickly gives up the boudoir photos in question in 3.16 "Un-American Graffiti."

-bethgee

Played by Fred Stoller.
Oneko, Kizza

Long-lost father of Apollo Bukenya and New York taxi driver. A refugee from Uganda, he escaped not knowing that the woman he left behind was pregnant. When Apollo published Soldier of Misfortune, he learned that he may have a son and hired the newly-anointed Detective Mars to check it out. Love drove him, but it was poverty that kept him from finding another P.I. when he saw Veronica's cuddly toy pen in 3.18 "I Know What You'll Do Next Summer."

-Inigo

Played by Babs Olusanmokun.
Ophelia

The spurned love of Hamlet. She drowned. Perhaps the nunnery would have been the better option, dear. Mr. Daniels doesn't give his students the choice in 1.07 "The Girl Next Door."

-Inigo

Ophelia #2

Weevil's six-year-old niece and apprentice criminal. She loves balloons, the Powerpuff Girls, and jumping into ball pits with cash boxes. We can just hear the songs she sings with her Uncle Eli:
A, B, C, D, E, F, G,
Thefts and heists and larceny.
H, I, J, K, L, M, N, O, P,
It is all so elementary.

Ophelia looks as sweet as her literary namesake and, like her, may have been better off in a nunnery. She starts her life of crime in 2.13 "Ain't No Magic Mountain High Enough."

-Inigo

Played by Maliah Hudson.
Opper, Amy

Hearst freshman. Her name is Amy; she's in the Facebook. With yellow feathers in her hair and a dress cut down to there. No, not really, but we learn nothing else about this San Diegan in 3.07 "Of Vice and Men."

-bethgee
Oprah Winfrey
See Winfrey, Oprah
Oquendo, Alan

Email correspondent of Dick Casablancas who received the forwarded video of Veronica and Piz doing the horizontal mambo. Alan is a pathetic loser who lives in his mother's basement and is only in Dick's contact list because Dick got him confused with his surfing buddy Alan Oguendo. Getting forwarded porn from Dick is the highlight of Alan's week in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-misskiwi

Orgon

Character in Tartuffe. Also a character in Veronica Mars, apparently, as the actor playing the character who is playing the character is credited solely by the name of the character his character is playing, rather than the character himself. Has the play come alive? Is this French theatre gone horribly awry? We never find out in 3.05 "President Evil."

-Polter-Cow

Played by Tyler Poelle.
Orozco, Eduardo "Thumper"

Orthenback, Donald

Castle member, class of 1933. Donald's bringing Orthen back, and them other boys don't know how to act. Hey, Donald may have gotten his groove on in Orthen, Netherlands after stopping to party in Amsterdam. We'd like to see the pictures he took on his European vacation, but sadly, they're in his unopened file in 3.20 "The Bitch Is Back."

-starxdsparrow

Orville Redenbacher
See Redenbacher, Orville
Orville Wright
See Wright, Orville
Orwell, George

Crimethinker who wrote ungood wordcrimes such as Nineteen Eighty-Four, Animal Farm, and Down and Out in Eurasia and Airstrip One without any authorization from FicDep. An oldthinker who has rejected Ingsoc, Orwell was taken by the Thinkpol to Room 101 and made into an unperson. We have always been at war with Eurasia in 2.20 "Look Who's Stalking."

-alliterator

Osama bin Laden
See bin Laden, Osama
Osbourne, Ozzy

A rock star who partied hearty and bit the heads off bats, then went on to star in his own reality show. Dick tries to party like Ozzy but only plays video games in 2.16 "The Rapes of Graff."

-alliterator

Oscar

Adorable Capuchin monkey. He started his destined-to-be-short life as a lab animal named number 25, but a kind-hearted scientist was won over by his charms, and Oscar now gets to live a happy life. Long live Oscar in 3.10 "Show Me the Monkey."

-funky-donut

Other Player

Blackjack player at the Seven Rivers Casino. Unlike Keith Mars, he has no hesitation in laying down a $2 bet in 2.14 "Versatile Toppings."

-Inigo

Played by John Nutten.
Otis

Town drunk in Alterna-Neptune, which resembles Jupiter, FL 30303. In a World Where Lilly Kane Lived, Keith Mars is still sheriff, and he remarks that Otis is sleeping it off in cell one. Pre-graduation jitters, perhaps? Be it Neptune or Newberry, Otis sure likes his sherry in 2.22 "Not Pictured."

-Polter-Cow

Otto

Character in Repo Man. He was recruited to the weird and wacky world of car repossession. He was portrayed by Emilio Estevez and is mimicked by the canny Veronica in 1.08 "Like a Virgin."

-Inigo

Outside Voice, Mr.

The partner of Miss Moan-a Lisa, one presumes that he talks really loudly. Didn't his mother ever tell him that people who live in thin-walled apartments shouldn't throw their voices? Perhaps not, because Veronica sure is glad he's moving out in 2.10 "One Angry Veronica."

-alliterator

Owen

Student at Neptune High and friend of Justin Smith. He likes to think of himself as Justin's older, wiser and wittier friend. So why is it Justin who gets the girl's attention, and finds the lady-man, in 1.03 "Meet John Smith"?
