Miami Vice (TV)

"What's wrong, Veronica?... Are you ready for a — a total eclipse of the heart?"
...
"Crockett or Tubbs?"

Pastel suits became all the rage in America after the launch of Miami Vice, a TV show about two undercover police officers in Miami, Florida, that from 1984 to 1989. Deputy Leo comes to the '80s dance dressed as one of the officers, and he gives Veronica a corsage and rescues her from moping over Duncan and and Meg's coupling. He even convinces her to return to the '80s-themed dance and share a slow dance with him. Leo's no dead ringer for either officer, but we can safely assume he's dressed as Sonny Crockett, the blond, blued-eyed cop. Ricardo Tubbs is his black, curly-haired partner, but a drunk Logan can't decide which one Leo is supposed to be. Cops: they all look alike to drunk people.

Sonny Crockett (TV)

"My name is Miss Crockett. This is my partner, Mr. Tubbs. We're here conducting an investigation."

Sonny Crockett and Rico Tubbs, played by Don Johnson and Philip Michael Thomas, were the heroes of the '80s hit TV show Miami Vice. Their 21st-century reincarnations were played by Colin Farrell and Jamie Foxx before Veronica and Tim took a shot at it. C & T were cops who often went undercover infiltrating the huge drug trade in Miami. While catching bad guys and bedding the ladies, Crocket and Tubbs always looked good. Their wardrobe, created by costume designer Gianni Versace, influenced many men to wear pastel T-shirts under Armani jackets (with the sleeves rolled up, of course) while sporting just a teensy amount of stubble. This was one of Law & Order creator Dick Wolf's first TV-producing gigs, so, really, we have Crocket and Tubbs to thank for the sound that has defined the L&O franchise, chung, chung.
