I Know What You Did Last Summer (Movies)

I Know What You Did Last Summer, here cutely referenced by Veronica to lure the boorish Dick into a confessional talk for two, was one of the multitude of 1990s teen slasher movies that flooded cinemas after the success of Scream. It featured Sarah Michelle Gellar and Jennifer Love Hewitt in starring roles, thus being an early example of hip young TV actors trying to expand their acting horizons through horror movie roles. Yeah, that generally works well.

2.18 "I Am God"

This movie, part of the re-emergence of the horror genre in the late ‘90s, starred some of the era's most popular teen actors. Buffy the Vampire Slayer's Sarah Michelle Gellar, Party of Five's Jennifer Love Hewitt, Freddy Prinze Jr., and Ryan Phillippe joined together to tell the story of four teens being stalked by a mystery person after they cover up an accidental death. Despite the fact that even the author of the book it's based on hated this movie, it was popular enough to spawn the sequel I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (minus Phillippe and Gellar) and 2006's straight-to-video I'll Always Know What You Did Last Summer (minus everyone). You know, unless these kids spend every summer killing someone, these titles are kind of misleading.

3.03 "Wichita Linebacker"

"We ran over that fisherman and promised we'd take the secret to our graves."

At the height of the teen-horror-flick craze in the late 1990s, I Know What You Did Last Summer featured a cast of young beautiful people covering up a silly little hit-and-run and then becoming irritated when the left-for-dead man just won't let them forget it. The movie begat a horrendous sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer (shouldn't it be "Two Summers Ago?") as well as a Sarah Michelle Gellar/Freddie Prinze, Jr. union. In the Neptune High version of the movie, would the newly bonded Logan and Mac be Ryan Phillippe and Jennifer Love Hewitt, respectively? Maybe Clarence Wiedman could be the guy with the hook.

3.16 "Un-American Graffiti"

Episode title: "I Know What You'll Do Next Summer"

ANOTHER I Know What You Did Last Summer reference? Either someone on the writing staff has a huge crush on Freddie Prinze Jr., or one of them killed a fisherman in a car accident years ago.
