Stand and Deliver (Movies)

"'Cervando wept the first time he saw Stand and Deliver.' Where do they even get that stuff?"

It's not hard to see why Cervando would have found this 1988 film, based on a true story, inspiring. Telling the tale of Jaime Escalante, a dedicated teacher who blessed his students with knowledge of calculus, it argued that Hispanic youth could do so much more than steal cars, engage in knife fights, and punch rich white boys in the face. It's a shame Cervando never got a chance to integrate Weevil's derivative, if you get our drift...okay, we don't get it either.
