Styx (Music)

"I had one of your boys in here earlier, Tommy Shaw."

"Too Much Time on My Hands." "Come Sail Away." "Mr. [expletive deleted] Roboto!" With these kick-ass tunes and others, American rock band Styx ruled the arenas and the charts in the 1970s and early 1980s, under the vaguely creepy leadership of frontman Dennis DeYoung, who I'm positive takes himself way too seriously. Tommy Shaw, the band's guitarist, had to take a breather in the early '90s and looked "High Enough" to find the Damn Yankees, a supergroup including Ted [expletive deleted] Nugent and Jack Blades from Night Ranger. Always sliding in vaguely obscure pop-culture references whenever they can, the VM writers place Neptune hooligan Tommy Shaw among the River Styx frequenting Fitzpatricks gang, causing "Babe" fans everywhere to wryly smile.
