Veronica Mars

"So why do you do it?"
"Cold hard cash."
"Seriously."
"...Because I'm good at it, maybe, I don't know."

Veronica is good at this detective stuff, and in the last few years, solving crimes and living life have kept her busy. After helping to solve and avenge her best friend's murder, getting raped, living her last three years of high school as an outcast, being abandoned by her alcoholic mother, almost dying in a school bus crash, masterminding a kidnapping, helping her boyfriend and his daughter (said kidnapping victim) skip town, violating her father's trust, losing, then regaining her new best friend, and surviving two direct attempts on her life, this young private investigator is ready to leave Neptune High behind for good.

After graduation, Veronica stands poised to tackle the challenging world of academia, Hearst College-style. She still lives at home with Keith, but her campus life is rich with friends, old and new, and she gets to take exciting classes where no one takes attendance! Leave it to Veronica to sign up for Intro to Criminology — as if she needs lessons. Logan is the love of her life once more, Mac is still her gal pal, and Wallace probably always will be her trusty sidekick and best friend.

Sounds too good to be true, you say? Well, she wouldn't be Veronica Mars if she weren't solving crimes and breakin' hearts. She helps Wallace's roommate Piz find his stolen merchandise and breaks up a ring of dorm robberies in the process. Piz thinks she's pretty hot and appropriately drools over her combination of beauty and brains.

Gone is the familiar LeBaron, having been replaced with a newer, sleeker Saturn SUV. Product placement aside, the car is pretty cool. Fortunately, her dog hasn't been replaced, and his gentle, panting face reminds us he'll rip someone in two without blinking an eye if that person tries to mess with Veronica.

Next on the list: finding the person behind the head-shaving and apparent rape of Mac's roommate Parker. Is there any doubt that Veronica will save the day? If necessary, re-watch seasons one and two of Veronica Mars. We'll wait.
